DESTINATION: SANTIAGO
4/4/2023 2 Comments Finally at the start!Planes, trains and auto bus- we finally made it to Saint Jean Pied de Port, the starting point for our Camino journey. We spent a few hours this morning walking through Pamplona before hopping on the bus to SJPP. It was really exciting to be passing through all the little towns we will walk through on our way back to Pamplona. These little villages pop up along the highway, with only a few buildings tucked into the mountain - a few hostels, maybe a small hotel, a restaurant or two. That’s it, then more windy roads and hairpin turns, following along rivers and streams , passing herds of sheep, up and over the Pyrenees. It was sort of surreal to see these little towns that we have been reading about for months come to life. The upper photo is a view of the mountains from SJPP - basically where we will be walking tomorrow. The next photo is Rory standing in line at the Pilgrim’s Welcome office. And finally, the candles we lit in the Norte Dame Church to honor my parents and pray for safety on our journey.
